Help with depression in Streatham & West Norwood

If you feel flat, heavy, and stuck in the same harsh thoughts, you may already have tried medication or months of talking and still want something more active. I work with many people who are depressed and want more than managing symptoms.

What it can feel like

How I can help

Depression is often kept going by patterns of thinking, such as rumination and self-criticism, and by old guilt, shame, regret or trauma. We work on those directly, using metacognitive techniques, cognitive hypnotherapy, NLP and eye-movement work. Mood is measured each session so you can see how things are moving. You do not need to retell everything. Many clients tell me they feel like themselves again. Nothing here asks you to stop other care that is helping.

What sessions are like

Sessions are 90 unrushed minutes, at the home office in West Norwood (SW16, near Streatham, Tulse Hill and Dulwich) or online across the UK. A session is £135, or four for £395. A free 20-minute call comes first, and we review how things are moving as we go. How many sessions varies from person to person.

If you take antidepressants, keep taking them as prescribed and talk to your GP before changing anything. I am happy to work alongside your GP. If you are in crisis, or having thoughts of harming yourself, contact your GP, NHS 111 or the Samaritans on 116 123, or call 999.

In clients’ own words

“Yesterday was my birthday. It’s the first birthday I’ve had since 2014 where I didn’t hate myself or wasn’t dealing with depression — it was awesome. You have played a really significant role in getting me to where I am.”

LB · Depression

“You challenged me and somehow reached me in a way that nothing and nobody has done in my many years of struggling to live well. Meeting you and working with you has truly changed my life — the world I live in now is colourful and lively and light-filled. Even though nothing has changed in my everyday life, I experience it in a completely different way. You showed me how to do that. I will be forever grateful to you for helping me decide to live.”

Can we work online?
Yes, except for eye-movement work, which is in person in West Norwood.
